Grand Canyon University Ch 7 Families Overcoming Obstacles Discussion

Please respond to student discussion board:

Chapter 7: Families overcoming obstacles

#1 How could looking at the Wallace family from a strengths perspective help Clara collaborate more effectively with Keisha’s parents?

After having talked with her principal and learning of Keisha’s family situation, Clara can now understand what Keisha is going thru at home and maybe schedule a meeting with her parents to see how she can help. “Show understanding – not judgement based on generalizations and misconceptions. Express appreciation for their efforts as parents, and do not assume that a lack of involvement in education means that they do not care about their children.” (Beegle, 2003b, p.19)

Video game assignment

I would like someone to re-write my assignment so as to include the following points made by the teacher. I need a total of 1.5 PAGES SINGLE-SPACED. Attached is my assignment and below are the teacher’s comments.

I really like that you narrow to 7-12 age range and included some papers. I think you will find a lot of papers on the topic dealing with pros and cons. I would imagine you would construct your paper arguing the many sides and then use all the information to make a recommendation to some place such as the City Public school board. You may even want to narrow to a specific subject that is taught/learned and see if there are studies on the outcomes.

Some points to consider

1. What makes a video game? My daughter completed a daily math exercise on the computer to memorize the times tables. It is based on speed, repetition and retention. Is this a video game? Please rectify

2. There is also some interesting debate on addiction to video games and whether genetics or the environment lead to this addiction.

Need help for Writing an Essay in Leaership

C. Final Assignment/Paper

Think of the final paper as a memo to yourself. The goal is to write a summary of what you’ve learned that is useful to you. Use the following questions as a guide:

1. In brief, what are the most important ideas about leadership that you will take away from the course?

2. What are the most important things that you have learned about yourself?

3. How would you apply your learning to your personal case? How would you think or act differently based on what you have learned?

Grades will be based on:

(1) How clearly and persuasively the paper develops important learning from the course.

(2) How much insight is reflected in the description of learning about oneself.

(3) How well the paper develops linkages between learning and the personal case.

Suggested length for final papers is three to five pages, double-spaced. Feedback from your case presentation should be attached to the final paper.

Final papers are due at the beginning of the final class.

concerning several money market funds, writing homework help

You are given the following information concerning several money market funds:

Money Market Fund

Return in Excess of the Treasury Bill Rate

Beta

A

12.4%

1.14

B

13.2%

1.22

C

11.4%

0.90

D

9.8%

0.76

E

12.6%

.095

During the time period the Standard & Poor’s stock index exceeded the Treasury bill rate by 10.5 % (i.e., rm – rf = 10.5%)

Rank the performance of each fund without adjusting for risk and adjusting for risk using the Treynor index. Which, if any, outperformed the market? (Remember, the beta of the market is 1.0).

The analysis is part (a) assume each fund is sufficiently diversified so that the appropriate measure of risk is the beta coefficient. Suppose, however, this assumption does not hold and the standard deviation of each fund’s return was as follows:

Money Market Fund

Standard Deviation of Return

A

0.045 (= 4.5%)

B

0.031

C

0.010

D

0.014

E

0.035

Thus, Fund A earned a return of 12.4%, but approximately 68% of the time this return has ranged from 7.9% to 16.9%. The standard deviation of the market return is 0.01 (i.e., 1 %), so 68 % of the time, the return on the market has ranged from 9.5 to 11.5%. Rank the funds using this alternative measure of risk. Which, if any outperformed the market on a risk-adjusted basis?

*Note: The Treynor Performance Index is an alternative measure for portfolio evaluation.

Ti = Rp (realized return on the portfolio) – Rf (the risk-free rate) / b (Portfolio beta, the measure of systematic risk)

Thus, if the portfolio manager X achieved a return of 15 percent when the risk-free rate was 7 percent the the portfolio’s beta was 1.1, the Treynor Index is

Ti = 0.15-0.07/1.1 = 0.0727

If portfolio manager Y achieved a return of 13.5 percent with a beta of 0.8, the Treynor Index is

Ti = 0.135 – 0.07 /0.8 = 0.08125

This indicates that portfolio manager Y outperformed portfolio manager X on a risk-adjusted basis

Reflective Journal, writing homework help

Hello everyone,

Here is the explanation for the questions and its requirements:

1. Reflective Journal

This week, I would like your Reflective Journal to cover the content of the following articles found on Blackboard:

Socrates and Plato

Aristotle

John Locke

Jean Jacques Rousseau

Utilize the reading from Noddings to engage these texts. Consider: How does each philosopher’s writings elaborate on our five questions, and the conceptual language we use to express their understandings of Education? If it helps, you may focus only on the question “Who is the Educated Person.”

2. Knowledge Board Post

As there is no class, we will use the Knowledge Board to post an exercise in the use of Analytic Philosophy on the article from Macmillan and Garrison. (The knowledge Board link is located on the left hand side of the screen in Blackboard, below Course Assignments)

As you read the article closely, draw again on the chapter from Noddings and consider: What objections can you raise? What points can you reject? Where can you probe for suppressed ideas? How can you argue new criteria? Can you predict consequences, or reject the entire scheme? How do Macmillan and Garrison elaborate and clarify the concept of Teaching – can you help to clarify their meaning as you make sense of it? Approach your post as an analysis to clarify the relationship of the language they use to describe teaching reality.

Five Philosophical Questions

Who Is the Educated Person?

What Is Worth Knowing?

What Is Learning?

What Is Good Teaching?

What Is the Role of the School in Society?

Guiding Democratic Educational Questions:

What is the role of education in a multicultural democratic society?

What are the ethical responsibilities of teachers?

What are key issues that impact education in the U.S today?

What is the relationship between schooling and social reproduction and transformation?

What role should schools play in fostering greater equality and educational opportunity?

***** the reflection should be 1500 words

Beauty Academy of South Florida Spirituality and Religion Questions

What is one question you would like answered about religion. For example, “Is religion a source of violence or a source of peace and harmony?” “Is Confucianism a religion?”

Bring one question that you will research and submit to your Required Instructor Meeting.

AND

Choose one of the following questions

1. Describe some of the problems in today’s world that seem to be involved with religion and some ways religion can help inter-group and international understanding.

2. a. What do you think is the relationship between spirituality and religion? (Is it direct and immediate or merely incidental?) b. Give an example of someone who in your judgment is very spiritual, although not professedly and actively religious? What are the outstanding qualities of this person? c. Give an example of someone who in your judgment is a very spiritual person precisely because s/he is professedly and actively religious. What are the outstanding qualities of this person?

3. Religion has always been with us. Throughout history, it has expressed the deepest questions human beings can ask, and it has taken a central place in the lives of virtually all civilizations and cultures. As we think all the way back to the dawn of human consciousness, we find religion everywhere we turn.

This may be true of the past, but what about the present—and the future? In recent times, critics have suggested that religion is on the way out. Technology and science have changed our view of the world radically, leading some to say that we’ve entered a new stage of human existence, without religion. Soon, they argue, it will truly be a thing of the past.

In our day and age, rumors of religion’s demise seem very premature—and perhaps there’s no grain of truth in them at all. Religion persists and is often on the rise, even as scientific and non-religious perspectives have become prominent. We still find religion everywhere, on television, in film, in popular music, in our towns and neighborhoods. We discover religion at the center of global issues and cultural conflict. We see religion in the lives of the people we know and love, and in ourselves, as we live out and wrestle with our own religious faith. Why does religion continue to thrive? There are many reasons, but one thing is certain: religious traditions are adaptable in important ways. For many, contemporary religion even has room for skepticism, science, and the secular, which allows it to keep going strong in our rapidly changing world.

Overall, religion is powerful and persistent, and it shows no signs of disappearing. It provokes heartfelt commitment, eloquent expression, forthright action, and intense debate. For both practitioners and observers—for everyone who wants to be informed about the world around them—religion is an intensely curious phenomenon that calls out for better understanding.

Review the following website: http://studyreligion.org/why/index.html (Links to an external site.)

Review each of the following seven sections.

  1. WHY STUDY RELIGION?
  2. WHAT IS RELIGION?
  3. SOME MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT STUDYING RELIGION
  4. PRESSING CONCERNS IN THE STUDY OF RELIGION
  5. WHAT WILL I STUDY?
  6. WHERE CAN I GO WITH IT?
  7. WHERE DO I START?
  • First, give a concise summary of the content (at lease two or more sentences), overall perspective, or purpose of each section.
  • Second, what is your reaction to each section: what strikes you as noteworthy, whether or not it was effective, and how it enhanced your understanding of religious studies.
  • Finally, whether the overall website was informative or useful: would you recommend it to someone.

This is a “personal response” paper and is really all about you and your investigation into the answer. However, it is an academic paper and should not address or make any faith claims. Note: This paper is not intended to be a formal academic paper and may be written in an informal conversation style. Please note, however, your composition skills (grammar, punctuation, paragraph structure, clarity of expression, etc.) will be included in the evaluation of the paper. It should be an example of your best writing. Sources you must cite (35 points).

Anthropology assignment for artifact

I have an Anthropology assignment. This assignment is to read the word file that i attached and start comparing among the different potteries. The title is Typology and the Kura-Araxes at Arslantepe. There are questions that need to answered after looking at them. You can find the details inside the shared file.

There are three categories of artifacts: pottery vessels A-O (and cooking pots P1 and 2), Spear points SA-SE, and decorative pins to hold together women’s clothes.

For each category, you need to figure out types in terms of the questions of which population is which and how they interact. Which types typify which group (ultimately you will need to see where they are found in each building and what that implies about the people and their relationships).

Please be aware of plagiarism and it should be 12 inch and double spaced in MLA style. It’s not essay, just answer the questions. Maximum pages is 2.

Thanks,

JRN4425 Troy University Multimedia Law Essay

NO PLAGIARISM!! You could fail this assignment if you copy anything from anywhere. I will expect you to think critically about First Amendment rights as you develop these essays. Four cases will be presented after these instructions. You are to write your essay on only one of the cases for Essay 1 and one of the remaining 3 for Essay 2. In the first paragraph, describe the dilemma you have, the situation you are in. In your essays, address the questions posed following the scenario, but make it all flow as though those questions are thoughts you have and know that they must be considered in arriving at a solution to your journalistic dilemma. Do not list the questions within your essay and then answer them individually. You must fully justify the path you choose. In other words, whether you choose a solution that is provided to you within the case scenario or another one you have come up with on your own, you must explain completely why you have made this choice. Refer to at least two previously decided cases (precedents) as partial support for your decision. Remember: The First Amendment is NOT a precedent. Do not start off writing the scenario as it appears in this assignment simply to add words to your essay. You must begin by briefly explaining the dilemma you are facing. Remember: The reader of your paper doesn’t know what the assignment is. Your paper must be submitted to Turn-ItIn by the deadlines above to receive full credit. Do your own work. I have caught many students plagiarizing the work of previous students, and it did not end well. Turn-It-In has all papers submitted for this assignment for the past six years in its repository, and I have them, also. Specifications: Use this list as your checklist before you submit through Turn-It-In! Points will be taken off if you do not follow this checklist! You must write this on your own. This is not a group project! ____ 650–900 words (This is a firm minimum and maximum number of words—not one word fewer nor one word more.) ____ 12-pt. Times New Roman, double spaced ____ 1-inch margins on all four sides of page ____ Contact info and name in header on every page; you MUST include your email address!! ____ Indent paragraphs ½ inch with NO extra spacing between paragraphs ____ Include page numbers ____ Do not submit PDFs. I cannot correct them. _____ Include a reference/bibliography section. The cases follow: Case 1 How much information should you report? THE SCENARIO: You are a reporter for a local newspaper. You come back to the office one day to find several staff members discussing this story: Two teenagers have been killed in an automobile accident. The driver, who survived, had been drinking prior to the accident. The two girls in the back seat, both of whom were killed, were nude at the time of the accident. 2 Your colleague, another reporter, is pushing for all the known facts to be reported. But the editor argues that the fact of the girls’ nudity should not be revealed; he claims that such information will just be an additional insult to their parents, who already are suffering from the girls’ deaths. Ask: Do you have a right to publish: The fact that the driver was drinking? The fact that the girls were nude at the time of the accident? Would it be responsible to publish these facts in reporting the accident? Brainstorm ALONE about things to consider in deciding whether to report this information: Do we have all the facts? Has anyone interviewed the survivor? Does the newspaper have a policy on printing names of sexual-assault victims? Will publishing the information help anyone else? Case 2 Detachment or involvement? THE SCENARIO: You are a reporter for a large urban daily. The paper plans a major series on poverty. Your editor assigns you to do an in-depth piece on the effects of poverty on children, with special emphasis on what happens when drug addiction becomes part of the story. You have identified several families willing to be subjects for the story. Three families agree to be photographed — and identified — and you spend four months with them, visiting their homes every day and observing what goes on. You tell them your job is to be an observer — a “fly on the wall” — so you can gather information for this important series. In one home, you watch as a mother allows her three-year-old daughter to go hungry for 24 hours. You see this same child living in a filthy room, stepping on broken glass and sleeping on a urine-soaked mattress. You know the mother is HIV-positive and you watch as she brushes her daughter’s teeth with the same toothbrush she uses. You see the mother hit the child with full force. You see the little girl about to bite on an electrical cord. Her plight haunts you. What do you do to satisfy both your conscience and your responsibilities as a reporter? A. Report the mother to the authorities so the girl will be removed from this environment and placed in a foster home. Then write the story. B. Write the story first, detailing your observations. After the story has been published, notify the authorities, giving the mother’s address. 3 C. Write the story, but don’t identify the mother or child to police or social service authorities. Remember, you are a reporter. You’ve put the information in the newspaper. It’s not your job to act as a police officer. D. Your own solution to the dilemma. Case 3 To what lengths should you go to get a story? THE SCENARIO: You are a correspondent for a major television network. Your producers have done a great deal of research about a national grocery chain; they allege that some of its grocery stores are asking employees to participate in unsanitary food-handling practices. This is an important story. Consumers may get sick if they eat tainted food, you argue, and they have a right to know that a food store is not handling its food in a safe manner. You want to make sure this story airs on national television. You believe that to get good footage you have to go into the store with cameras and film the store’s workers actually engaging in unsafe practices. You need proof. As the television correspondent, how will you get your story? A. Call the store manager and request an on-site interview, with cameras. Explain that you have some information that consumers will want to know about and give the store a chance to show its side of the story. B. Just appear at the store one day, without advance notice to the manager. That way you won’t tip off the staff that you’re onto a story. C. Pretend to be looking for a job in the store; complete an employment application and actually get hired. Then, while you’re at work, use hidden cameras to document the unsafe practices you see. D. Your own solution to the dilemma. Be specific. Case 4 Will a negative story be allowed to run in a high school newspaper? THE SCENARIO: As a high school journalist, you have developed several sources of information about the football camp held each year at your school. You hear that brutal hazing is part of athletes’ initiation to 4 the team. Investigating further, you learn that new players are subject to various humiliations and assaults, sometimes with broomsticks, electrical cords and socks stuffed with tennis balls. This is a big, important story. Kids are being hurt. You work hard to get your facts right and spend a great deal of effort checking and double-checking your sources. Your newspaper’s adviser supports you and your work. But when you are ready to publish the story in the school newspaper, the principal says you can’t run it unless you make substantial changes. You must eliminate a player’s comments and add a prepared statement from the football coach. The coach also says this is “negative journalism” and wants you to hold the story until after the playoffs. What do you do? A. Drop the story. You know you’ve done a good job, but if the principal won’t let you run the story as you have prepared it, you won’t run it at all. B. Wait until after the playoffs, as the coach requests, and then print the story according to the principal’s requirements: Drop the player’s comments and run the football coach’s statement. At least some of the information you have uncovered will come out. C. Print the story as your principal demands, by dropping the player’s comments and running the football coach’s statement. But add an editor’s note at the end of the story, explaining that school officials, including the coach, reviewed the story and insisted that changes be made to it before it was published. D. Your own solution to the dilemma. Be specific

How a federal policy affects your current or desired workplace, assignment help

Prepare: Prior to beginning your journal this week, complete all course readings and assigned videos, review the Week Two Instructor Guidance, and the Discussion, “Policy and Your Life.” It would also be helpful to review last week’s readings.

Reflect: Once you have completed these assignments think about how American politics have and could affect your career aspirations. The Founding Fathers created a governmental structure that affects almost every aspect of our lives even today. For instance, if you are a criminal justice major, what parts of the U.S. Constitution are applicable to what you are learning in your major? If you are a business major, which branch of government – executive, legislative, or judicial – has, or will have, the greatest influence on your business ambitions? If you are a healthcare major, how does separation of powers in the U.S. government affect the operations of most economic, social, and political processes throughout the United States?

Also, think about how federalism and the U.S. Congress have affected or will affect your life. The federal structure ensures that there is a clear line between local, state, and federal government regulations, policies, and oversight—sometimes! Think about how federal statues affect your work or will affect your work in the future. Does Congress have oversight of any of the processes or products in your workplace? Do the government regulations, policies, and oversight sometimes conflict with local or state regulations, policies, and oversight?

Write: As you reflect on the information you learned this week, write in your journal, based on your current major and/or desired job, two detailed paragraphs about the following:

  • How a federal policy affects your current or desired workplace.
  • What role Congress has played in establishing workplace conditions in your current or desired job.

Your journal response must be a minimum one page, double-spaced. Justify your conclusions with facts and persuasive reasoning. Fully respond to all parts of the question and write your response in your own words. Outside research and references are not required for journal assignments, but if you choose to utilize outside sources they must be correctly cited utilizing APA format both within the body of your journal and include a full reference page

Organizational model, assignment help

classmate1:

Our organization also follows some of the models used. It also involves the design of a product as well as the process that will produce it. A lot of considerations are undertaken so that our organization can come up with the appropriate and efficient process that will satisfy its customer’s needs. The bottom line in manufacturing is to ensure that the processes are efficient and cost saving. Our organization also ensures that it has the most effective relationship with its suppliers so that it can do it cost effectively. Enterprise Resource Planning is also essential in our organization operation model; it simplifies the company’s processes.

One of the primarily focused goals of our organization is the maximization of profits through the sales of its products. The other primary goal of our organization is to ensure long-term survival. It makes sure that all of its decisions are based on its safety in the market; therefore, it does not target to reap massive profits in short-run. Another primary objective of our organization is to maximize it’s profits; this move is an alternative to profit maximization. Some of the techniques and tools that our organization has been using to achieve these goals are; analyzing organization culture to cut cost and improve efficiency, ensuring better business strategies and information system and also reviewing the business case throughout the project’s lifecycle.

classmate2:

I really agree with the organization follow this model. It has six processes, product design, purchasing, manufacturing, service operations, logistics, and distribution. During the video named what is operations management, it takes some examples like MacDonald’s raw materials across the global in order to get a best price. In addition, Disney provide a good service so that can keep customers happy.

There are two main types of organizational goals: official and operative. Official goals detail a company’s aims as described in their public statements, such as the corporate charter and annual reports. They help to build the organization’s public image and reputation. Operative goals are the actual, concrete steps a business intends to take to achieve its purpose. A company’s operative goals often don’t parallel its official goals; for example, while a nonprofit volunteer organization’s main official goal may be community service, limited funding might mean that its operative goal of fund raising will take precedence.

I think the official like the manager needs to make a perfect system. Having a completed specification of the geometry, materials, and tolerances for all parts. Identification of all standard parts to be purchased from suppliers. If the detector wants to operative a company successful, he/she needs let the production rate ramp-up. It would need to train workers and resolve any remaining problems. Productions are the most important part to run a company.

Need help to write about writing processes

Your Writing Process

Discussion 1

In this assignment, you will reflect on your writing process.

Task

Describe your writing process. What do you think you could do better? What suggestions do you have for your peers?

For example,

I used to have this perfection thing about sentences. I would write one sentence, revise it until it was “perfect,” then I would write the next sentence. Needless to say, this is a poor strategy. I managed to get through my undegraduate degree with it, but the demands of graduate school quickly overwhelmed me. Luckily, I bumped into a book about writing by Howard Becker, the name of which I presently forget, and he introduced me to the work of Linda Flower who advocates the stuff you read in Wikipedia, Gracy, and Booth. It worked much better for me.

Nowadays, what I really need are more occasions to write. It’s been a long time since I was in school, so I don’t have anyone telling me to write anything. The last thing I wrote was a book review (oddly enough, about a book about sentences) over a year ago. I get out of practice.

I always advise people (especially people who are attempting big projects) to not try to edit and revise while drafting, and (in the case of school papers) that “done is better than good.”

Whats a summary analysis, you say? The granddaddy of all political science, Harold Lasswell, is known for defining Politics. , Ideological values, beliefs, and opinions, aside, when it comes to government and politics, his definition of the word (ironically) is probably the only thing that all mankind can agree on. Lasswell, defines politics, as “who, gets what, where, when, and how”. Apply that definition to the article’s information, or the article’s information to that definition, and write a 10 sentence summary that focuses on critically evaluating what is going on, from your personal perspective. Interject your opinion. You should be making a statement, argument, and your opinion about the subject matter, should be known. However, this needs to be done in a scholarly and academic manner. Focus on explanation, reason and rationalization, to provide a clear opinion statement and discussion of their personal perspective and political position towards the event or issue in their article. In addition, to receive full credit, students MUST include a direct link to the original article’s text that they are using to complete this assignment.

Part 2- students will review summary analyses submissions, made in part 1, and offer a rebuttal to a classmate’s current event analysis, which opposes their own. MOST IMPORTANTLY, BE CONSTRUCTIVE in your critiques; and RATIONAL in your explanation of your perspective. Rebuttals must be 5-10 sentences in length.

Both parts are to be submitted to this discussion bored. Reply directly to the original post of your peer, when completing part 2. .

You must complete part 1, and post your article with the summary analysis, before you will be able to review and respond to the post’s of your peers.

Identifying a Need, writing assignment help

Identifying a Need

Identify a problem or area of need for which instructional design might be able to support a solution. Your problem can be in an academic or industry setting. In your initial post, you will:

  • Identify which one of the needs assessment methods from your text you are using.
  • Justify the problem as an instructional design issue.
  • Describe the steps you would follow to complete a needs assessment for this issue. This is an issue that you will continue to develop throughout the course, so choose carefully.

If you have completed EDU120 since May 2013, you cannot use the same problem used as the final project in that course unless you have made previous arrangements with your current instructor of EDU232.

You may respond to this discussion in any format you wish, as long as each of the required components is included. If you choose to respond in a format other than text, you can attach the document (picture, presentation, etc.) to your discussion post. If you choose a format hosted on the internet (video, VoiceThread, etc.), post the link within the discussion box. Ensure that the project is publicly available or provide the required access info.

Writing Need Help PLease

Religion and Criminal Justice

After reading this week’s text that pertains to divine command theory and moderate divine command theory I believe the difference between the two is how much a person relies on divine command theory. An example of absolute divine command theory would be some Islamic societies in the Middle East who practice a strict law directly out of their holy book the Koran. And a moderate example of divine command would be far less traditional Islamic communities that recognize western influences.

When it comes to religion influencing the making of laws we can look at the history of the world. Some can argue that the United States has laws that are derived from the Ten Commandments. However we live in a free country and the constitution protects us citizens from religious prosecution and religion being forced upon us all. So when it comes to religion influencing laws I would say it never should, however morality and ethics a reasonable person maintains shares a close resemblance to relegation.

To use religion as a way to rehabilitate is a move in the right direction for example introducing a non-believer who is an addict to religion and teaching them to use religion to help them in their struggle, I would argue there is no ethical reason why not to. To use religion to rehabilitate by striping that person of their own free will and is in my opinion un-ethical. An example of this would be in the early 1900’s Irish family would sent their “problem citizen” to work in this religious type boarding prison in hopes they could work their way in to heaven by paying off their sins though work for the church.

Religion and criminal justice work in hand especially when dealing with criminal cases. The main reason for this is because all laws applied in the bible have been used to guide and protect citizens in different countries like America. In your post you posted some negative and positive effects concerned with religion and criminal justice. Positive effects related to the post. Many people argue that the laws governing American government are derived from the Ten Commandments in the bible. This might not be the exact assumption because the laws are made to cater and protect human rights in the country (Williams, & Arriago, 2012). You did a great job in your post encouraging people to use religion and to encourage others from doing evil things.  Additionally, people in America do not attendant jobs in Sundays. Relating to the Ten Commandments, there is a law which says that people should keep the Sabbath day holy. For this reason, the positive side of the positive is encouraging people to keep religion in the fore front in their life struggle.

Islamic religion has been using religion to handle some cases in their community. Many people have been converted to Islamic because they have been following correct measures for developing their country. This is the reason why many people have used religion to rehabilitate people to move in the right direction. It is true to say that the post encourages people to use religion to rehabilitate people such as introducing non-believers to use religion for them to prosper in life because religion is full of wise words which are important. You also encourage us to use religion to rehabilitate people would have wronged and this would encourage them to use religion in their life struggle.

Alternatively, the post also has negative effects related to criminal justice. For example, sending people to prison to pay for their sins would not be important because many people have families which they need to take care off. For this reason, sending them to prison would diminish their developments and this would be ironical according to the Ten Commandments. On the other hand, some Islamic in the Middle east practice strict laws directly from their holy book the Koran which might not favor the  entire community because each religion has its own holy book (Williams, & Arriago, 2012. For this reason, some laws may affect negatively on some people because they use different ideas from their religion. Therefore, each religion should use God’s way to rehabilitate those people who have wronged through using indirect laws from the bible or holy book. Through this, people would grow up spiritually and avoid immoral behaviors.

LOVE CONTROVERSY ESSAY, writing homework help

Assignment:

Write these papers like any other academic paper, with full explanations and resources.  Follow the rubric and demonstrate a scholarly knowledge of the topic as well as show writing competence. You can be more informal in your response.  See the discussion guidelines in the contents section.

Love connections can mirror or metaphorically reflect ideas about family/community connections, traditions and support.  In other words — Love between a couple can suggest larger love and commitments to and between black communities.  For example, in the movie Brown Sugar, the couple Sidney and Dre find themselves separated and in relationships that are problematic.  Love between the couple does not happen until the couple focuses on hip hop, its origins and meanings for black people rather than hip hop as a vehicle for mere profit and acceptance in mainstream communities.  The comic mockery of the Dalmatian Brothers is one way the film exposes this. They are black and white and the interaction and connection become a mockery of black origins and its seriousness and connections.  The movie also suggests that in a rush for approval and acceptance in capitalist worlds, Blacks have abandoned  themselves and a deeper love for self and for blackness.

So the question is how do the films of the modules suggest or not suggest a larger connection, appreciation and respect?  How does the relationship between the couple(s) and between other people mirror or suggest love by and for black people among themselves and their culture?  How does it suggest lack of appreciation by outside sources?

Compare and contrast Just Wright with Brown Sugar specifically to look at ways music suggests healthy black love or how healthy black community can survive or come under attack.  With Just Wright the emphasis may be on soundtrack, with Brown Sugar, on musical performers or both may be useful to look at.  Quote from the Understanding Black Aspects ebook as you compose your essay and from the Black Romance article in the content section.  In short, explain how what music symbolizes and how a larger love for blackness is suggested in the music, story line, characters, etc as appropriate. Include an analysis of mise en scene in one scene as one of the proofs to support your thesis.  Go into detail on the love relationships, their characterizations and speculate what the films may be saying about black on black commitment and love.

Pick a focus using the ideas above.  You cannot cover everything, but go in depth on one-two major ideas and build your thesis for this.

Remember these films are NOT reality.  They are the materialization of expressions of ideologies or refutation of those beliefs that exist in society, sometimes from Hollywood, sometimes from a black perspective.  Your job is to use academic writings and your own interpretations to produce and essay that analyze words, themes, mise en scene as they project beliefs.  Note this paper must be uploaded into the dropbox as well as posted here.

Guidelines:

Remember the essays should contain citations and are practice for the final course paper.  However they are also an opportunity to start less formal conversations and responses among group members.  You must complete both aspects, so be sure to respond to at least one of your group members about what they found and/or to the comments of others who respond to your post.  This assignment counts toward class participation. Copy and paste or type your discussion/essay in the discussion area and submit your file to the dropbox for a plaigarism check.

What should be included in your essay(for more detail look at the rubric attached to this discussion):

  • 600 Words for initial post for Discussion/Essay
  • 150 or more words for your response to one classmate
  • Contains a thesis
  • At least 3 proofs to support the thesis
    • two from course materials
    • one from your own academic or primary research
  • Use of in text citations with page numbers
  • Works cited with webpage links or full printing press information
  • Good Grammar
  • Discretionary points for Excellence

Essay Format:

This is generally the format of what your essay should look like.

Paragraph 1 — introduction to tell me where you are going. This paragraph includes or starts with a specific distinct thesis that states exactly what you plan to argue. It does not say “I will discuss…”  Instead, state your argument and move on to prove it.  If I have to wait until the end of the paper to figure out what your point is, you have already failed.  Some students put the thesis sentence in italics or bold it. If you want to do this that’s fine.  It helps me zero in immediately on what you will argue and may help you keep track of your focus.

Paragraphs 2-5 — justifications. Each subsequent paragraph proves some part of your thesis. They start with and include sub assertions. These sub assertions introduce related bits of evidence and are in effect a mini thesis that makes a refined point about SOME aspect of the thesis. In other words, it pinpoints a specific part of the thesis and explains why the information you present is relevant. After the sub assertion, include your evidence — an example, quote, and citation, for example. You must include examples from the narrative. You can combine justifications in paragraphs as long as they relate to the sub assertion, which on a larger scale connects to the thesis.   Start each new paragraph with new sub assertions and justification that highlights a another different part of the thesis.  Continue until all parts of your thesis are illustrated and justified.  Adjust your thesis if need be.

Final Paragraph — add some deeper insight. You started with a thesis — what additional intellectual points can you add that both reflects the original thesis but seems to carry your initial concept further?

To understand the numerical scoring of this paper and areas for potential improvement, please consult the areas marked with an X in the following grading chart:

Content & Structure

X

This is an interesting topic, but it’s also rather broad.  A more specific local approach would have been helpful.

X

The purpose and focus of this letter could be clearer throughout.  What publication is this aimed at? How might you appeal to the general readership of this specific newspaper more specifically?

X

Your solution would benefit from further development and specificity and/or deeper consideration of opposing arguments or pragmatic challenges.

X

Further work on organization and/or transitions would strengthen this essay.

Editing Issues to Watch Out for in the Future

X

Missing/misused commas

X

Misused colons or semicolons

In regards to editing issues, you may want to consult the appropriate sections in the grammar handbook at the back of your textbook about these issues as well. (These are the cream-colored pages in the 8th or 9th edition or the blue pages in the 7th edition.)  Once you’ve reviewed these sections as well as your paper, feel free to let me know if you have questions about any of these issues.

Your solutions would work, but how do we make that happen? How can we help those parents who aren’t guiding their children? How can we encourage teachers to teach this material when it’s controversial? We know the solution to teen pregnancy; however, the challenge is making the solution happen. A more local approach would probably help you address the issue more realistically. Other than that, this is good work!

Streaming Analysis American Life Podcast

Before we start to work on video content, we’re going to look at, and create audio content. Your first analysis will be to listen to a popular podcast and write up an analysis that answers the following 5 questions:

  1. What’s the audience and how does the caster appeal to/create for that audience?
  2. From listening to one or two episodes of the podcast, what are the tropes and trends you notice? In other words, how is this podcast structured?
  3. Think about the production value and the use of sound. What does the podcast do to be not just listenable but entertaining?
  4. How does the podcast use time? This relates in ways to 2 and 3 above, but it’s important to think about any places where the cast either drags or moves too quickly (and, relatedly, how the hosts/creators fix that so that it doesn’t continue)
  5. Every podcast with an audience is doing something special. So what is the podcast you’re analyzing doing that makes it unique, elite, popular or otherwise engaging? What’s the secret to success?

Each criterion will be worth 2 points of your final total for the assignment.

You can select any podcast that you like as long as it conforms to the following two criteria:

  • It has to have at least 100 reviews on Apple Podcasts or Stitcher
  • Episodes have to be at least 30 minutes long

These are to be the equal of 1000 words (4 pages
