By laying down some of officers already in the department, the city will have some issues that they will have to face, and these issues have a great impact in their lives concerning security and emergency services. This means the number of heads that are dependent on each and every available officer will increase making the process of offering services to the community being a hard one and an ineffective process.

  From this process of laying down officers who services might seem not of great importance to the society, there will be benefits though minimal as compared to the greater number of disadvantages. The benefits that could be realized will only be important to the officers in that they will be able to get more funds since their number to which the funds are divisible, will be reduced. They will be able to serve with much easy since the funds required in the process are available (Boehnke, 2010).Who would you solicit input before making budget decisions ?  You can use any of the following for inputs to decisions, Public involvement, surveys, the police that work in your department, focus groups, neighborhood councils, and Citizen Relationship Management systems.  For any police department to function well, it must be well funded to avoid shortages especially tools of response like vehicles, radio and fire arms for fighting armed criminals.

  There are so many disadvantages in that the number of policemen available will not be enough to serve the whole city. There will be shortages , and this means there will be delayed responses and inefficiency in service delivery. Some departments that might be eliminated are important and an example is the narcotic department which is very helpful in dealing with narcotics, and nailing down drug lords who pose a great threat to the youths by smuggling harmful drugs. Reduction in response services like traffic motorbike units will affect response in that the response time will be much more than leading to poor services. The government should fund the officers in any town to avoid shortages since these are the responsible people in times of need to the citizens and they should be solicited for input when the budget decisions are being made. Budget cuts that will affect the number of police officer offering service to the community will have a great impact on the society since they will lack trust in the department that should be component in service delivery. Budget cuts will lead to poor service delivery and cases of insecurity might increase due to poor response and ineffectiveness in the department.
