1. Bias is a major problem in our efforts to evaluate health screening programs. What are the major sources of bias which must be considered in this regard, and what can be done to reduce bias in the evaluation of health screening programs.

2. Great emphasis is placed in American medicine today on the privacy and confidentiality of patients. This emphasis was assured by the passage of HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, by Congress. How do we assure that privacy and confidentiality continue to be protected when patients (or patient records) are involved in epidemiological research? How do we govern access to epidemiological data?
