1.I watched, “Health Insurance Explained: YouToons Have it Covered” on The Henry J. Kaiser Family foundation Website. I found the video to be very informative and the delivery was easy to follow if a person does not know about the health insurance plans.
The information that I knew was the different type of medical plans that are offer to the public, Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan the patient can only see a person in their provider network and needs a referral to see a specialist. A Provider Preferred Organization PPO) Network gives the patient more of a flexibility to see in network and out of network providers. The patient would have more responsiblity if seen an out of network provider. The Market Place Insurance insurance is shared premium with the patient the governnment helps pay for the premium based on income. Lastly, State Insurance, Medicaid is the patient has to qualify by income and the services are mostly covered at 100% due to being low income. Medicare insurance their are several options. A Medicare Supplemental Insurance which the patient pays premiums to the insurance. The services are comparable to Medicare some offer more benefits on the plan, Traditional Medicare Part A covers the hopsital visits, the patients has a set premium each month to pay it is based on the patient’s income amount. Medicare Part B covers the doctors visits. Medicare Part D is for Prescriptions Services.
One thing that I have noticed since the affordable care act has been signed into law is the cost the health care services has gone up drastically. I remember at one time paying for Health Insurance, Dental, & Vision and paying $200.00. a month to my employer. The out of poclet at the doctor’s office was $25 for an office visit, an inpatient stay was covered at 100%. The insurance plans now being offered at work is applied to deductible, a percentage for each visit no copay amount is an option. Boy has the time has changed.
