Concordia University Teacher Perceptions on Teacher Evaluation Bibliography

Annotated Bibliography

Create an annotated bibliography of at least three peer-reviewed articles or dissertations related to one of the following topics:

  1. Teacher Evaluation
  2. Assessment in the Workplace
  3. Game-Based Learning
  4. Simulation-Based Learning
  5. Or choose a topic that relates to assessment in your project plan and organization

Assemble the annotations into a paper with an introduction and conclusion (each annotation must be one half to one page) that compares or synthesizes the approaches taken in and/or findings of the articles. You may use empirical articles (including meta analyses), literature reviews, theoretical articles, methodological articles, or case studies. (See the APA manual (2010), pages 10–11, for a description of each type of scholarly article.) You may expand your search for articles back 10–15 years to find seminal articles applying or challenging the theory.
Arrange your articles in alphabetical order.

Annotations: Start each one half to one page annotation with a full citation as a heading and include three paragraphs (subheadings within annotations are not required):

  • Paragraph 1: Identify the intent and type of the article, provide background for the material, methods, or data analyzed in the article. Clarify use of the theorist’s work in the article. If the article is empirical, clarify the research methods used, sample, etc.
  • Paragraph 2: Summarize the major findings of empirical studies or the conclusions of the literature review, essay, or methodological analysis.
  • Paragraph 3: Analyze the relevance of the article’s main points to your focus for this assignment and how the article confirms, extends, and/or challenges the theorist’s main ideas.

Introduce your set of three annotations with a half page describing the focus you chose and the library search terms you used.

Conclude the paper with a comparison of the articles in relationship to your topic and a discussion of at least one area that might be explored in future research regarding your chosen focus.

Include a cover page.

This paper does not require a reference page because it is an annotated bibliography.

Refer to the APA style guide for your headings and citations.
