For this essay, you’ll need to have:
- a full, four to five paragraph essay
- it must follow the structure of an argumentative essay, with an introduction, two body paragraphs to support your argument, and a strong conclusion.
- must have a clear thesis statement in the introduction and a restatement of that thesis in the conclusion.
- Your sources must be from a reputable source.
- You must have 5-10 different source citations. If you have less than 5, I will not accept your paper.
- Your sources CANNOT be from the Internet. You must use the databases, books, or periodicals from the TJC library. Although the databases can be accessed online, they are not considered online resources. I will be including a video on how to access and use the databases.
- Your paper should be double spaced, 12 point font, with 1 inch margins.
- Remember, you MUST have a separate bibliography page to cite your sources that you used to back up your claim and those need to be cited within the essay as well. Your citations should be single spaced, 12 point font, and arranged in alphabetical order by the author’s last name. This page is added on a separate page after your conclusion and should say “Works Cited” at the top.
- Remember, you must cite your sources within the paragraph as well. This is called “parenthetical citation.” Usually, it just consists of the author’s last and the page number where the quote occurred.
- You DO NOT have to have a refutation paragraph.
- Remember, your paper will be first evaluated by Turn It In. If it is deemed by them that your paper has more than 5% similarity to another paper elsewhere, I will not accept your paper.
