What are the career goals that you have established as you complete your program of study?  

As of right now, my goal is simple… to further my education by going for my MAB as soon as I finish with my undergrad degree. Once, I finish with my MBA, I will use the experience I have accumulated over the year in health care and eventually become a hospital administrator.

How do the goals and learning outcomes of the course compliment your career goals?

In this course I was able to learn and research the relationship between society and technology. It has opened my eyes to see that it is not enough for me to know how to use a computer or various software. In order for me to be competitive, I need to have an edge over my competitor. I have come to the conclusion that knowing a computer language is very important today. I will be taking additional classes to learn computer coding in order to strengthen my resume.

What are some of the skills developed and enforced in this course that you will be able to transfer to your career?

This course primarily taught me how important research is and how to improve on my communication skills. Those weekly discussions are a great tool in learning how to properly communicate my thoughts through writing. It was fun and more challenging than I care to admit, which is showing me that there is an area that I currently need to improve. Written skills are very important in the job market, because I will be communicating with different departments and different people via emails or instant messages. Being able to properly use the correct vernacular will help me go far.

How do these skills support the development of communication competence, critical thinking, and problem-solving?

Having strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills will help support my development of communication because I will possess the ability to think clearly and rationally. There are too many instances where employees make decisions based on emotions as opposed to logical reasoning and companies suffer because of that. Being able to detach my emotions by analyzing the situation at hand with clear rationality will help me solve the problem accurately more often than none.

What are some of the ways you will continue to develop these skills in your career path as part of your professional development and life-long learning goals?

I will definitely pick up reading again. I believe that enhancing my vocabulary is the first step in developing these skills in my career path. I will not stop at reading, I will make sure that I use what I have learned on a daily basis so that is becomes a part of me. I will be enrolling in coding classes to learn how to create applications, design websites, because we live in a world that is dominated by computers. Having the basic understand on how it works will help me in the long run.
