The first item pulled from the junk drawer is an eight-inch nut driver. This nut driver, made by craftsman, has a blue and yellow handle. The 3/8 nut driver was used to fix a bed this past summer, and never made it back to the toolbox in the garage.

The second item pulled from the junk drawer is a set of drill bits. The black box holds 13 drill bits of various sizes. The drill bits were used for a starter hole to insert an anchor into a bedroom wall to hang a framed autograph jersey.

The third item pulled from the junk drawer is an eight-inch flashlight. The flashlight is black and green, has a belt hook, and takes two double A batteries. The flashlights availability in the junk drawer is handy for power outages, which happens frequently in our neighborhood.

The three items together are tools that this household needs for various reasons. The junk drawer consists of several different tools that is used around the house and is a convenience to retrieve when needed. Although all three are tools, each tool use is different and has a different purpose. Finally, all three items are back in the junk drawer for our convenience, and more tools will most likely find their way to the drawer in the future.

Bringing together the different elements of information that contribute to a body of knowledge on a topic is synthesis (D’Urso, 2016). Although our junk drawer consists of tools, comparing and contrasting those tools were not difficult. The difficulty comes when synthesizing several articles at one time, and understanding how each article connects to each other. In addition, it takes practice and time for myself to feel comfortable synthesizing. I am more experienced at synthesizing than a year ago, but I am not comfortable yet with synthesizing. The upcoming assignment should put things in perspective on the ability to synthesize.
