1.  TITLE at the Top of Your Paper with name of novel, author, name of character you are analyzing, word count, and your name. This does not need to be a separate page.

2. Begin your INTRODUCTION (Paragraphs 1 and 2)  by describing the personality of your character as it relates to two or more of the following:  Words/Quotes, Actions, Reactions, Movements, Thoughts, Mannerisms

3.  Paragraphs 3 & 4 should tell us whether or not your character is the protagonist, antagonist, or foil – and why.  Provide at least two examples why from the novel.

 Protagonist – main character (there may be more than one)
Antagonist – character/characters who present a challenge or obstacle to the protagonist (in some cases it is not a person but could be religion, emotion, the past, society, religion, etc.)
Foil -character who provides contrast (they are opposite) to the main character (protagonist), in order to emphasize the main character’s traits.

4.  Paragraph 5 and 6 –  CONCLUSION that explains how the character you selected has changed or grown. Most characters go through changes as a story unfolds.  Use at least one quote from the character that demonstrates his/her change/growth. Describe the author’s writing style with regard to the character you selected and compare/contrast your character to another character from a previous novel you have read.
